Breathwork

A Pathway to Deep Healing and Conscious Transformation

Breath is one of the most powerful and accessible tools we have for healing and self-discovery. Through intentional breathwork, we can release stored trauma, regulate the nervous system, and access expanded states of consciousness all within a safe and supportive environment.

My own journey with breathwork began in the mid-1980s, when I first trained with Leonard Orr, one of the founders of modern breathwork. From there, I went on to establish facilitator trainings and lead breathwork workshops throughout the Midwest. In the 1990s, while pursuing graduate studies at CIIS, I had the privilege of training under Stanislav Grof, a pioneer in transpersonal psychology and holotropic breathwork. These early experiences shaped the way I approach this work today.

Over the decades, I’ve woven together my background in nursing, therapy, and alternative healing with the deep spiritual wisdom of breathwork. My sessions are trauma-informed, clinically grounded, and guided with compassion, creating a safe container where true transformation can unfold.

Why Breathwork?

Breathwork is an intentional practice of using conscious, connected breathing patterns to:

  • Release unprocessed emotions and somatic tension
  • Interrupt stress and trauma patterns held in the body
  • Access non-ordinary states of awareness for insight and clarity
  • Cultivate self-compassion and inner safety
  • Promote deep relaxation and nervous system regulation and optimize Heart Rate Variability

Modern research and ancient traditions alike recognize that the breath is a direct path to altering consciousness, unlocking healing potential, and integrating mind, body, and spirit.

MY APPROACH

Breathwork practice is integrative and personalized.
Key elements of my approach include:

  • Prioritize Well-Being: Sessions are facilitated with the utmost care for your physical, emotional, and psychological safety, respecting your unique readiness and boundaries.
  • Trauma-Informed: Understanding how trauma lives in the body, I use grounding techniques, resourcing, and gentle titration to help you process at your own pace.
  • Clinical Oversight: As an integrative nurse practitioner and therapist, I offer professional, ethical guidance with the expertise to navigate complex emotional terrain.
  • Spiritual Depth: Sessions honor the wisdom of expanded states of consciousness, inviting insights, visions, and connection to the sacred aspects of your healing journey.

What to Expect

Breathwork is typically offered in private sessions or small, intimate groups. A typical session includes:

  • Setting intentions and clarifying personal goals
  • Creating a safe, ceremonial space
  • Guided breathing practices tailored to your needs
  • Emotional and somatic processing with compassionate support
  • Integration time to help you ground insights into daily life

Sessions may include music, guided imagery, movement, and post-session integration resources.

Is Breathwork for You?

Breathwork can benefit those who:

  • Feel stuck or blocked in traditional talk therapy
  • Want to release old patterns or trauma held in the body
  • Seek greater emotional freedom and self-awareness
  • Desire spiritual connection and personal insight
  • Are ready to move beyond coping and into true healing

Breathwork is not recommended for everyone. I will conduct a thorough intake to assess your readiness and safety for this type of work.
